After having a discussion with Mrs.Wahba on the 25th of November I came up with the idea of sewing a collection to be presented at the February exhibition to just test my overall skills on sewing. I want my collection be a visual representation of my personal style and the types of fabric I appreciate and like to buy. So after thinking for a while I came up with a list of points to consider as to what to put in my collection list.
First, I'm not an expert on sewing yet so I can't sew complicated clothing like a full length evening gown
Second, I do have other school work which fits into the time constraints category so I need to sew clothing that can be sewn within a short period of time
Third, the availability and cost of fabrics. Since I do live in Dubai, certain types of fabrics are often not available as Dubai does not have many fabric stores compared to other countries and hence the cost of these can be quite expensive which is a problem.
I finally came up with a collection that will consist of:
- Two leather skirts ( inspired by mini leather skirt at Givenchy Fall RTW 2011)
- One pair of silk print pants( inspired by Celine 2011 RTW)
Two fur vests( inspired by Fendi 2008 RTW)

One print clutch( inspired the many print clutches at Paris Fashion Week 2012)
I ended up buying gold and silver leather fabrics, red and grey fur fabrics and an Italian countryside inspired silk pattern and a Je T'aime Paris text pattern for the clutch.
