Since I already chose my topic which was learning a new skill( sewing), I also had to choose an Area Of Interaction since the IB requires that included in the Personal Project. At first, I thought that it was Community and Service but I later on ended up thinking that it could not be community and service as I was not helping out the community, rather I was improving myself so the only help that was going around was being delivered to me. So I decided to choose a more relevant AOI which was Human Ingenuity. As per the IB states” This area of interaction allows students to explore in multiple ways the processes and products of human creativity, and to consider their impact on society and the mind. Human ingenuity allow students to focus on the evolution, process and products of human creativity and their impact on life and society. Human ingenuity provides opportunities for students to appreciate and develop in themselves the human capacity to create, transform, enjoy and improve the quality of life. In this way, human ingenuity goes beyond the act of creation alone, leading students to examine, experience and reflect on the creative process. This definitely was a more relevant AOI to my project as I am developing my personal skills and in a way I can improve my quality of life as if I do end up perfecting the skill, I can make my own clothes suited to my taste and I also have the opportunity in the future to use this valuable skillto start my own fashion label if possible and come up with new creations.
