Today I decided to try out my new Janome DC3050 and possibly make something. Setting up the machine was not that hard as the instructions were very clear and easy to comprehend and the machine was in tip top condition.
Since I read a lot of blogs and online magazines one of my favorite online magazines called Rookie Mag created by 16 year old Tavi Gevinson has a special section called style and they do have a lot of DIY stuff in there and while I was scrolling through it I found a DIY that I really wanted to do. The DIY was called “ How to Turn a T-shirt into a dress” written by one of their writers Marlena.
Marlena’s end product
I decided to give it an attempt and everything was going fine until I realized that while cutting out the two different tshirts, instead of cutting double sided, I only cut out one side and I ended up with a single sided vest with no back to itself so I had to start all over again and this time I did cut out double sides and I managed to finish all of the other steps except the last step where I got confused as to how exactly I would end up getting a diagonal colored dress so I decided that I would just get back to it later and see if I could find any help. Another thing to be noted is that my alignments and measurements were not too accurate as this was my first time actually sewing a dress but there is a first time for everything so in the future I should make sure that my measurements are 100% accurate.
